Ferodo

Ferodo brake pads and clutch plates are an excellent addition to your motorcycle. The technology of the brake pads comes from racing and offers formidable stopping power at a very affordable price. The same quality of Ferodo can also be found in the clutch plates. Both the clutch plates and the brake pads meet the minimum requirements that apply to OEM products. In most cases Ferodo quality exceeds the quality of the original components. In short, Ferodo is the brand to choose if you only want the best for your motorcycle.

Ferodo brake pad types

Brake pads are not parts that you have to buy often. The question when purchasing is therefore almost always which type of brake pads is best for you. There are several types available from Ferodo, with the most sold / used being the sintered brake pads and the Platinum (organic). The Platinum variant has the longest lifespan, but the braking power is therefore also slightly less. The sintered brake pads have a somewhat shorter lifespan, but brake better. These are actually between the brake pads for racing and the hard variant (Platinum) and are therefore the best choice for almost all cases.

Chains and sprockets motorcycle

The motorcycle chain is a crucial part of transferring power from the motorcycle block to the rear wheel. The most common chain types are the O-Ring and X-Ring. These types differ in the type of rubber sealing ring between the rollers and the side plates. The O-Ring chain is provided with sealing rings that have a round cross-section. Its successor is the so-called X-Ring chain. The cross-section of these seals looks like an X and provides a better seal, so that the lubricant (chain spray) remains better protected in the rollers and therefore better lubrication is guaranteed.

A good chain set is very important for the maintenance of your motorcycle. That is why we sell a chain set from DID with Esjot or JT sprockets. The quality of the chain can be divided into mainly 2 categories, namely the VX, VX2, VX3 or the ZVM-X chain. The VX, VX2 and VX3 chain are of good quality and great for daily use. If you set maximum requirements for your chain, it is advisable to take the DID ZVM-X chain. This chain can withstand very heavy loads (motors with a lot of horsepower and also powerful 2 cylinders that can give a lot of blows). Both chains are safe to use for all motorcycles. Only the service life under heavy load will be longer with a ZVM-X chain.

Mounting chain set motor

The installation of a chain set is a maintenance job that you can easily do yourself. Some technical knowledge is required. In particular, the disassembly and assembly of certain parts, such as the rear wheel, must be done carefully. Make sure that the rear wheel is mounted straight again and that the chain is set to the correct tension. That tension means that the chain must move about 3 cm up and down in a loaded condition. It is therefore important to measure this when someone is on the motorcycle. This prevents the chain from being too tight while driving. Always replace the sprockets when you install a new chain.

Motorcycle chain maintenance

The maintenance of the chain of the motorcycle is a job that should not be underestimated, which can extend the life of your chain considerably. There are mainly two activities that need to be done. The first is to regularly spray the chain with specific chain spray for the motorcycle. Depending on the brand, this differs between 500-1000 km. For example, the S100 chain spray only needs to be used once every 1000 km. In addition to this regular injection, it is advisable to clean the motorcycle chain once a season. The advice is to do this at the end of the season. This is an easy job if you use the S100 chain cleaner. With this you only have to spray the chain, distribute it well with a brush and then spray it off with a hard jet of water after 15 minutes. The clean chain can then be sprayed again with the chain spray.

In addition to keeping the chain set clean, a regular check of the chain tension is necessary. This is a visual check and, if necessary, the chain can be correctly adjusted in the prescribed manner (differs per motorcycle).

The right chain set

To find the right chain set for your motorcycle, you can use the selector. By the way, you can choose other sprockets when ordering. Choose the Custom option and specify the desired sizes in the remark with your order. The options are indicated in the article description of the chain set.
