I also chose this heated grip because of the switch built into the handle. Before purchasing I already took into account that switching with gloves would be problematic, but that is not so bad. In the short time that I have used it, sometimes only some difficulty with switching on, but switching to another position is without any problems with a glove. Get warm. In terms of installation, I noticed the following: Assembling the handles yourself was not that bad in the end, a little YouTube and you'll figure it out. I had a bit more trouble with the electronics, especially the relay part. Maybe it's good that Mpartz mentions why they advise this, I have come to the conclusion that it is more of a protection for your other electronics here. It certainly has nothing to do with whether or not it is turned on via the ignition. What I eventually wanted. Took effort to find a switched plus (in this case switched via ignition). Once found, via plug connectors this switched plus to input of relay connected (86) earth connection to (85) , a continuous plus to (30) , handles plus to (87), handles minus/earth connection also to (85). This ensured that the heated grips only work when the ignition is on. So fine, but didn't feel right; tangle of wires, so looked further for another solution. Turns out that the motor supplier also sells an accessories relay.. Wiring / plug is already present in the motor, you only have to put a plug in the relay and you have 2 points elsewhere that read 12 Volt (switched via contact and via relay). One used for the handles (connectors of the handles were the same as those of the motorcycle), the other could be used for fog lights. Kawasaki Versys 650 Reaction mPartz: The function of the relay is to be able to switch on the basis of a switched plus a greater power (no protection or the like of other electronics). If you connect the heated grips to a normal switched plus of the motorcycle, there is a very good chance that the fuse will blow, since the heated grips require more power than the fuse and cabling on the motorcycle is provided. To prevent this, you must connect heated grips directly to the battery. The issue with this is that if it is not switched via a relay, the heated grips will drain the battery if it is accidentally left on with the motorcycle off. You can prevent this by placing a relay in between that only switches on when the motorcycle is on. |
